Florida United Methodist Children’s Home
The Florida United Methodist Children’s Home began as the Florida Methodist Orphanage in 1908. The Home has developed into a diverse ministry to children and families facing difficult circumstances. Our services include residential care for school-age children and youth, emergency shelter care, therapeutic group care, foster care and adoption services, community child care center and our transitional/independent living program.
Children live in one of the 13 cottages on campus, usually two to a room, where two house parents ensure a stable, home-like atmosphere. The average stay is approximately 12 to 18 months, with some remaining much longer.
The Waller-Jeter Cottage has 10 single rooms and currently serves as the transitional living cottage for our older boys. This cottage was named in memory of two former Hyde Park United Methodist servants: Dr. Harry H. Waller, minister, and Mr. Earl Jeter, outstanding and enthusiastic member. Hyde Park United Methodist collects 5th Sunday Offerings for the Children’s Home throughout the year.
