Hyde Park United Methodist is intentional about helping people become and grow as disciples of Christ. Our Discipleship Pathway is a framework that lays out how we believe this happens.
Five Foundational Elements:

The Christian life is not meant to be lived alone. We were created for connection – with God and with one another. Yet each of us must take our own path, one where God is leading us to grow deeper in faith and become more like Christ each day.

Exploring
- Beginnings (12 weeks)
An exploration of basic Christian beliefs in a safe, small group atmosphere. - On The Path (6 weeks)
Discover tools and practices to help you live your life with Christ at the center. Practical tools for prayer, Bible study and service.
Getting Started
- Bible from Scratch (12 weeks)
Spend twelve weeks gaining a basic understanding of the Bible from beginning to end. You will study parts of the Old and New Testament, and be introduced to basic tools and skills for Bible study. - New Member Class (6 weeks)
The sessions are based on our mission of “Making God’s Love Real”, the vision God has given us for our community, and your journey as a disciple of Christ. - On The Path (6 weeks)
Discover tools and practices to help you live your life with Christ at the center. Practical tools for prayer, Bible study and service. - Financial Peace University (13 weeks)
A video curriculum taught by financial expert Dave Ramsey that incorporates small-group discussions to encourage accountability and discipleship.
Going Deeper
- Disciple Bible Study 1 (32 weeks)
Beginning with Genesis and continuing through Revelation, participants will read approximately 80% of the Bible during this life-changing study. It is designed not only to increase your knowledge of the Bible, but to lead you into a deeper faith and more committed discipleship on your faith journey. - Wesley Group
Wesley groups practice four things together:1. Create close community and fellowship with one another.
2. Study the Bible and help each other apply it to their daily lives.
Groups will choose curriculum (DBS 2, 3, 4, Christian Believer, Short-term
studies, etc.) or use the Daily Discipleship Journal as their guide.3. Participate in serving each other and in mission to the community.
4. Pray for the needs of friends, neighbors, the church, and each other.
Centering on Christ
- Wesley Group
Made up of 6 to 14 people who come together to build relationships through encouragement, accountability, guidance, and prayer so that all members experience life transformation through Christ. - Lead others in Group Life
At this point in your faith journey, considering guiding others in group life. Talk to the church staff about how to get started. Keep in mind you will want to still be a part of a Wesley Group for your own spiritual growth.
