MOMS of Hyde Park United Methodist
Our M.O.M.S. (Mothers Offering Mothers Support) Group welcomes any mom who is looking for support, friendship, and encouragement during the parenting years. We have an exciting and eventful year planned that will strive to meet the needs of all types of moms.
So... whether you just brought home a newborn or you have a child in every phase of childhood, we invite you to join us to gain a new perspective, insight and wisdom, as well as grow stronger while you do the most important thing you’ll ever do ... parenting.
In the M.O.M.S. Group, you’ll share the joys and trials of raising children, and grow in faith together. Monthly topical meetings, nighttime socials, and service projects are just part of this year’s schedule. You’ll meet new friends, learn a little, and grow a lot!
Beginning in March, the MOMS group will start a series of meetings on “Scream-Free Parenting” by Hal Edwards Rankel. The MOMS decided they would prefer to meet another day of the week and chose one Wednesday morning a month. Moms who wish to participate are encouraged to buy the book and read part I before the next meeting, which will be Wednesday, March 24 at 9:30 a.m. Here is the entire schedule for the study:
- Part I: 9:30 a.m. March 24, Wesley Center Rooms 308 and 309
- Part II: 9:30 a.m. April 21, Wesley Center Rooms 308 and 309
- Parts III & IV: at 9:30 a.m. May 19, Wesley Center Rooms 308 and 309
Monica will be showing the corresponding video and leading discussion at the meetings. MOMS participating should R.S.V.P. to Monica Cordeiro by email. As in the past, the MOMS Group will not meet June, July, or August and will resume their once a month meetings in September 2010 (exact schedule TBD).
MOMS Nights Out will continue throughout the summer on the first Monday of every month. The upcoming MOMS Nights Out are:
- April 5: 7 p.m. at a nail salon (TBD), followed by dinner at Datz on MacDill
- May 5: 7 p.m. at Algusto on W. Kennedy Blvd.
MOMS should R.S.V.P. to Monica by email, so she can grab a table large enough for everyone.
The goal of the M.O.M.S. Group is to
- give mothers a place to network and prayerfully support each other
- reach out to all mothers (whether church members or not) who have no small group connection
- provide opportunities for mothers to use their time and talents to serve others in the community and thus provide an example for our children
- share concerns, ideas and information regarding our children, ourselves and the spiritual development of both, within our church and our communities
